Avalanche danger is low. A few danger zones for slab releases are limited to high altitudes zones on extremely steep shady slopes above 1900 m. Slab avalanches generally triggerable only by large additional loading. On east-facing slopes, fresh drifts have accumulated, easily triggered, but only slides are anticipated.

The snowpack was able to settle well, the various layers are well bonded. Fresh snowdrifts lie deposited on north-facing slopes atop a melt-freeze crust. On shady slopes at high altitudes the surfaces are often hardened, many slopes are utterly windblown. In the mountains around Graz there is only little snow on the ground.

In the western Northern Alps and at high altitudes in the Niedere Tauern, weal SE winds will permit more sunshine. Elsewhere, clouds and fog dominate up to over 2000 m, visibility is reduced. Along the rimline ranges, a bit of minor snowfall is possib le. Moderate SE winds. Temperatures rising. At 2000 m: -5 degrees on Zirbitzkogel; -3 degrees on the Grimming.

In Northern Alps on Thursday, some sunshine, elsewhere clouds and fog will continue to dominate, poor visibility. In some places at some times, a bit of minor snowfall. Moderate S/SE winds, in northern regions there will be foehn. At 2000 m: -2 degree. No significant change is expected.
