Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs represent the main danger.

As a consequence of a strong to storm force wind, clearly visible wind slabs formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines as well as above approximately 2400 m. The rather small wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in particular on very steep shady slopes. In many places there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of low temperatures and the strong wind, a crust formed on the surface. The wind slabs are in many cases rather small but to be assessed critically. Above approximately 2400 m snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. The old snowpack will be generally well bonded.
