As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from southwesterly directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form in the course of the day. The wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack at intermediate and high altitudes. The avalanche prone locations are to be found on very steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions these avalanche prone locations are more widespread and the danger is slightly greater. They can be released easily in some places. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised in particular in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls. The new snow is bonding poorly with the old snowpack in some places. Small and medium-sized avalanches are possible.

Tuesday: 10 to 15 cm of snow will fall until the evening above approximately 1800 m. In the western part of the northern flank of the Alps, along the border with France in some regions 10 cm of snow fell on Saturday. The wind was strong. The weather was cold. A lot of snow is lying at intermediate and high altitudes. The old snowpack is favourably layered.

As a consequence of new snow and strong wind the prevalence and size of the avalanche prone locations will increase on Wednesday. The avalanche danger will increase but remain within the current danger level.
