The wet snow avalanche hazard will increase as the temperatures rise. Shallow wet slides may be possible on very steep slopes during the warmest portion of the day. At the highest elevations it may still be possible to find an isolated pocket of wind slab up to a foot deep. Small slides can be dangerous in cliff areas, steep chutes, and other extreme terrain features. Carefully assess the snowpack and terrain with respect to the potential consequences of being caught and carried in a small avalanche. Monitor conditions for increasing wet snow hazards and avoid steep slopes if the snow softens and becomes unstable.

A cold front will move through the area tonight. Snow showers are likely at the higher elevations between midnight and noon. Accumulations of a trace to two inches are anticipated. A break in the showers and cloud cover is expected in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will in the 20’s tonight and in the 30’s and 40’s on Friday. Winds will be from the west at 10 to 20 miles per hour.The snowpack is mostly stable. Avalanches are unlikely. Watch out for areas of unstable snow on isolated terrain features.
