Highlights

Yesterdays spring storm brought up to a foot of new snow to the mountains. Some potential may persist for snowmobilers to trigger dangerous hard slab avalanches in isolated areas. Dense wind slabs could also be triggered by riders or skiers in very steep avalanche prone terrain at the mid and upper elevations. Avalanches are unlikely below an elevation of 8,000 feet.

( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )A moist and unstable Pacific trough will pass over western Wyoming tonight. Winds will shift to the northwest and temperatures will drop into the teens in the mountains and into the 20s in the valley by daybreak. Several inches of additional snow fall are possible. On Monday skies will be mostly cloudy with mountain snow showers. Temperatures will rise into the 20s in the mountains and into the 30s in the valleys. Winds will decrease and back towards the south. The general avalanche hazard expected to be MODERATE at the mid and upper elevations. Humans who venture into steep terrain could trigger dense slab avalanches up to 30 inches in depth. The hazard at the lower elevations is expected to be LOW.
