Although mostly stable exists in the early November snowpack, surface slabs formed by recent snow and wind lie in the upper elevations on steep leeward terrain features. Skiers and hunters should use caution in very steep terrain where isolated pockets of activity could cause significant harm given the early season conditions. Small wet loose activity is also expected this afternoon in steep sunlit areas.
At the higher elevations west-southwest to northwest winds have created pockets of soft slab on leeward aspects in very steep terrain. These surface slabs could be triggered by humans with depths of ten to eighteen.
Sunday looks to be mostly sunny and breezy. Temperatures on summits are to hold in the upper twenties where southwest winds are expected to average between twenty to thirty miles per hour. Valley temperatures are to reach the mid to upper thirties. The general avalanche hazard will be Low in western Wyoming. Isolated pockets of slab lie above 9000 feet in steep wind loaded terrain could be triggered by skiers or hunters. These slabs are small in size but deserve respect as even small slides can carry consequences particularly in these early season conditions when rocks and other ground features are more likely to cause trauma.
