Avalanche Summary
Generally safe avalanche conditions exist on Pikes Peak. The few places you might be able to trigger an avalanche are on wind-drifted slopes facing just below ridgelines, on the edges of a gully or couloir, or around rock outcrops at upper elevations above treeline. Seek out wind-sheltered terrain where the snow is soft as opposed to the hard, hollow wind-loaded slopes for safer travel options.
Expect the danger to increase Wednesday with a poor overnight freeze and another warm day leading to water reaching dry weak layers near the base of the snowpack.
