Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche where recent snow drifted onto easterly-facing slopes at upper elevations. On southerly-facing slopes, this snow will drift on top of a melt-freeze crust, where triggering an avalanche will be much easier. If you see a rounded snow surface and the snow feels hard and hollow under you or cracks and collapses, it is time to seek wind-sheltered slopes at lower elevations.
