At the mid and high elevations, soft slabs lie in avalanche terrain that were formed earlier in the week during periods of snow and strong winds. Skiers and riders have the potential to trigger these slabs in steep avalanche starting zones to depths of up to two feet. Avalanches at low elevations are unlikely today except for shallow isolated pockets in very steep terrain.

Expect inverted conditions to build overnight with mountain lows in the negative single digits as the valley drops into the negative teens. Highs in the mountains will be near ten as the lower elevations rise into the single digits. Skies will be partly cloudy to mostly sunny. Ridgetop winds will be out of the west to northwest at 15 to 25 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be MODERATE on Sunday. On steep, wind loaded slopes underlain by these potential sliding surfaces, skiers and riders could trigger soft slabs up to two feet deep in the Teton and Southwest Trails areas. Conditions are similar in the Togwotee pass area but with slab depths to eighteen inches. Evaluate the snowpack carefully and avoid areas where these combinations of surface hoar and sliding surfaces exist.
