The General Avalanche Hazard is LOW this morning at all elevations. During the morning isolated pockets of soft surface slabs to over a foot in depth may be triggered above 8500' in very steep terrain on generally shaded slopes. The hazard will increase to MODERATE today at all elevations as sunlight and significant warming weaken the snow providing the chance for wet slab and wet loose avalanches. This activity is expected to be within the surface snow at mid and high elevations on all aspects and can involve deeper snow at low elevations where warmer temperatures have been weakening the snowpack.

Another day of high pressure is expected with partly cloudy skies, light winds and mountain temperatures reaching the low thirties.AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW Friday morning and increase to MODERATE in the afternoon as sunlight and warming create the possibility for wet slide activity in the surface snow at higher elevations and potentially deeper into the snowpack at lower elevations. Backcountry users are advised to consult area specific forecasts issued every morning as new information may become available and unexpected weather can change conditions.
