Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Dense slabs to two feet in depth lie upon weak layers of faceted snow. These slabs have been recently triggered naturally, by skiers, and snowmobilers in steep wind loaded avalanche terrain around Togwotee Pass. These slabs will become easier to trigger today as warming occurs. Two fatalities, two serious injuries, and several close calls have occured in Western Wyoming this week. None of these recent events were triggered by the first person on the slope but by subsequent riders.
