Highlights

The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE today. Unstable soft slabs up to three feet in depth lie upon a weak faceted snowpack. These slabs are likely to be triggered by riders and skiers on steep wind loaded avalanche paths and banks. As the day progresses and temperatures warm these slabs will become easier to trigger. Deeper slabs are possible in the starting zones of major avalanche paths such as the east face of Lava Mountain where a large avalanche was reported to have occured two days ago.
