Avalanche Activity

Watch out for new snow.

MODERATE avalanche danger (level 2) above treeline is in effect in all mountain ranges. Older snow cover is packed and consolidated. Snowfall has occurred after a prolonged period without precipitation. Up to 20 cm of new snow will fall without significant wind influence. Avalanche release is possible above the forest belt on very steep slopes.

Snowpack Structure

Continuous snow cover is found mainly at the highest altitudes above 1500 m a.s.l. Up to 20 cm of new snow will be added, mostly on hard ground. Most of the new snow will fall mainly at high altitudes above 1500 m a.s.l. Precipitation will transition from rain to snow, allowing good mixing of new and old snow. In the valleys, trails and roads are often made up of ice overlain by newer snow.

Tendency

With snowfall rising.
