Forecast Snow Stability: New snow at the start of the period will fall on bare ground and quickly melt as the freezing level rises and thaw conditions set in. Snow accumulations as the freezing level drops at the end of the period are not expected to be significant. The few remaining old snow patches will be well bonded and stable. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Forecast Weather Influences: Snow showers above 800 metres this evening precedes heavy rain at all levels overnight, easing to showers through the day and turning back to snow above 1000 metres as the freezing level lowers to this level during the afternoon. South-Easterly winds initially will veer South-Westely and increase to Gale force overnight then ease very slightly during the day. Observed Weather Influences: Very wet and very mild conditions this morning cleared to give a mainly dry day. The freezing level gradually lowered from well above the summits to around 1000 metres towards the end of the afternoon. Gale force South-Westerly winds eased. ObservedSnowStability: Thaw conditions continue with very few snow patches remaining. The snow patches that remain are stable in all locations. The avalanche hazard is Low.
