Over a wide area the already large wind slabs will increase in size additionally. The weather will be cold.

Avalanche Activity

Wind and new snow above approximately 1400 m. The new snow and wind slabs represent the main danger. Snow sport activities outside marked and open pistes call for extensive experience in the assessment of avalanche danger and careful route selection.

The strong wind will transport the new snow significantly. In all aspects numerous large and, in isolated cases, very large natural avalanches are possible. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular at the base of rock walls and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs remain very prone to triggering in all aspects. Avalanches can be released, even by a single winter sport participant.
