Over a wide area over a wide area 5 to 10 cm of snow, and up to 20 cm in some localities, fell on Monday. Especially transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example as well as wind-loaded slopes: Some small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface. Weak layers in the old snowpack can be released in isolated cases and mostly by large additional loads. In the regions exposed to heavier precipitation this applies in particular at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example,.
Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak; its surface consists of loosely bonded snow. In high Alpine regions snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. In all altitude zones from a snow sport perspective, in most cases insufficient snow is lying.
