Forecast Snow Stability: Unstable windslab will continue to develop in wind sheltered locations such as coire rims, gullies and crag aprons with greatest accumulations on North-West through North to East aspects above 800 metres, West and South-East aspects will also be affected due to cross loading. Fragile cornices will be present above these aspects. Localised instabilities will also be present on steep banks and gullies at lower elevations and above 550 metres. The avalanche hazard will be Considerable.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Overnight showers will clear to give a cloudy dry day. The freezing level will drop from 750 metres to around 200 metres by the morning. Moderate to strong West-South-Westerly winds will veer Westerly during the morning. Observed Weather Influences: Storm force winds with snow showers for most of the day. The freezing level rose to 600 metres by the end of the afternoon. ObservedSnowStability: Fresh unstable windslab is forming and gaining depth in wind sheltered locations, mainly on North-West to North-East aspects above 800 metres. More localised acculumulations are present on steep banks and gullies at lower elevations and above 550 metres. Other aspects are affected due to cross loading. Windslab is being eroded from slopes exposed to the strong southerly winds. The avalanche hazard is Considerable.
