Highlights

We've picked up a small amount of new snow, but overall, the danger remains LOW on the Manti Skyline. Human-triggered avalanches are unlikely today.

With additional snow later today and tonight, I'm expecting the danger to increase to MODERATE by Thursday.

    Your focus should be on the new snow today. However, I don't think it will pose any real threat. There may be a few drifts that form along higher terrain features that could be sensitive, but will be small and mostly harmless.

    The danger may increase a bit by Thursday but still won't get real dangerous. My attention is on next week when the advertised storms may drop enough snow to actually make the danger real.

Snow and Weather

General Conditions: Periods of light snow over the last 24 hours have only added 1 to 2 inches of new snow. Wind from the southwest has been pretty well behaved and generally light. Temperatures remain fairly warm. Most locations hovered around 30°F overnight. The couple of inches of new snow will certainly help the riding conditions but a pig is still ugly even with lipstick.

Mountain Weather: We'll see some periods of snowfall during the day, but it probably won't add up to much. The better chance for accumulation is later this afternoon and tonight, lingering through Thursday. We should see 4 to 6 inches more snow by late Thursday. Temperatures are going to remain in the upper 20s to around freezing. Wind will be light from the southwest with a few moderate speed gusts. Friday looks mostly cloudy then things clear out at least a little for the weekend. Looking forward, the pattern looks active next week with more chances for snow.
