Blues

Cooling and cloud cover will limit avalanche activity today.  If the sun does pop, expect small wet loose avalanches in the surface snow.  Look for rollerballs or gloppy surface snow on solar (E-S-W) aspects and if you find these warning signs, retreat to shady slopes or those under 35 degrees.

Like many recent days, isolated showers are possible with a brief angry inch of snow.  That may occur in one basin and not the next.  Maintain your ability to be surprised and stay flexible in your mountain travel plans.  Play the hand you are dealt and take advantage of ridgeline views to scout into the wind for incoming systems before they hit you.  

An observer in the N Blues outside the forecast area found corn and a diminishing snowpack early in the week.
