Forecast Snow Stability: Further unstable windslab will develop overnight mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 800 metres. There will be a period of reduced stability in the latter part of the night and early morning when wet snow instabilities will develop in these locations. Cornices will be prone to collapse at this time. Stability will then improve during the day and fresh windslab accumulations at this time are expected to be isolated and shallow. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: Strong Westerly winds will back to the South-South-West and increase to storm force for a time around dawn before easing to gale force and veering to the West during the day. Snow showers will turn to rain at all levels around dawn reverting to snow to gradually lower elevations during the day. The freezing level will rise above the summits around dawn before dropping through the day to 600 metres. Observed Weather Influences: There were occasional heavy snow showers with gale force Westerly winds. The freezing level was around 700 metres. ObservedSnowStability: Localised areas of moderately bonded windslab are present mainly on North through East to South-East aspects above 700 metres. Features such as gullies, corrie rims and ridge flanks are most affected. Fragile cornices are present above these aspects. The older snowpack remains generally stable. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
