Slab avalanches are the main danger.
The sometimes strong wind has transported the new snow significantly. As a consequence of the strong northwesterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations formed during the last few days. In particular intermediate and high altitudes as well as in places that are protected from the wind: Soft wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in areas close to the tree line. The wind slabs are clearly recognisable. In particular steep sunny slopes and base of rock walls: Small and medium-sized dry and moist avalanches are possible as a consequence of warming.
Over a wide area 15 to 20 cm of snow fell yesterday in all altitude zones. The strong wind has transported the fresh and old snow. In particular in the vicinity of peaks snow depths vary greatly, depending on the infuence of the wind. Sunny slopes: The solar radiation will give rise as the day progresses to increasing moistening of the snowpack.
