Avalanche Activity

Forecast Snow Stability: Despite some consolidation weaknesses will remain in recent windslab accumulations. Instabilities possible in windslab deposits on steep slopes on all aspects with greatest accumulations on North-East through East to South-West aspects above 600 metres. Fragile cornices will be present. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: A dry cloudy day with light East-South-Easterly winds. The freezing level will rise to around 550 metres. Observed Weather Influences: After a few snow showers this morning it was a mainly dry day with moderate Westerly winds. Freezing at most levels with little change in temperature with height, the temperature at 925 metres rose to -1.8 degrees Celsius. ObservedSnowStability: The snowpack is gradually consolidating however instabilities persist in recent windslab accumulations. Instabilities remain on all aspects with greatest accumulations on North-East through East to South-West aspects above 600 metres. Fragile cornices are present. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
