Forecast Snow Stability: After a period of instability overnight, new windslab will be found mostly on North-West through North-East to South-East aspects above 850 metres. Wind sheltered features such as corrie rims, gully tops and crag aprons will be affected particularly where new accumulations have achieved depth over older snow-ice. Unstable cornices will also start to rebuild. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Forecast Weather Influences: An approaching front will see some changeable conditions over the next period. Overnight there will be snowfall with the freezing level initially at 800 metres but lifting above the summits with precipitation turning to rain. By morning the freezing level is expected to be around 800 metres with light snowfall. Gale force winds throughout, Southerly overnight but veering to the West for most of the day. Observed Weather Influences: A dry and mostly sunny day. The freezing level was around 800 metres by early afternoon with a fresh breeze from the South. ObservedSnowStability: Shallow new snow was found above 600 metres on most aspects. Deeper but isolated areas of windslab had developed in wind sheltered locations mainly on North to East aspects above 900 metres. These were mostly avoidable. Older snow was very hard and icy. The avalanche hazard is Low.
