Stigende temperatur og litt regn kan føre til enkelte naturlig utløste våte skred. I indre deler av regionen er det vedvarende svake lag i snødekket. Det kommer sannsynligvis ikke nok regn til å påvirke de svake lagene, men f.eks skavler som faller ned kan løse ut store skred.

Snowpack Structure

I høyden finnes vindpåvirket snø ujevnt fordelt i terrenget. Lørdag kom en del nedbør med vind fra sør og vest, med nysnøgrense rundt 300 moh. Forrige helg var det mildvær opp til ca. 400 moh. I indre deler av regionen er det mye kantkorn i snødekket. Dette ligger stort sett under hard vindpåvirket snø, men det kan ikke utelukkes at det enkelte steder kan være mulig å løse ut skred på vedvarende svake lag. Men det er ikke rapportert om skredaktivitet i dette området den siste tiden.

Tendency

Above the rain–snow line, unstable wind slabs can form quickly – especially in east-facing slopes that accumulate a lot of wind-drifted snow. These slabs will be easy to trigger, particularly when they are freshly formed.

The increased load from wind-drifted snow may in some areas lead to naturally triggered avalanches on deep persistent weak layers. There is considerable uncertainty associated with this avalanche problem, but it is likely most pronounced in inland areas.

At lower elevations, rain weakens the snowpack. Some wet avalanches may still occur here, but the avalanche danger is expected to be lower than in the high mountains.
