Avalanche Activity

Wet snow represents the main danger.

As a consequence of warming during the day and the solar radiation, the likelihood of wet avalanches being released will increase. This applies in all aspects. Avalanches are rather small but easily released. Avalanches can in isolated cases release deeper layers of the snowpack and reach medium size.

Snowpack Structure

Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced at times. The surface of the snowpack will freeze very little and will soften quickly. Sunshine and high temperatures gave rise to increasing and thorough wetting of the snowpack.

Tendency

Some rain will fall on Monday. As a consequence of the rain, the likelihood of wet avalanches being released will increase in particular on steep shady slopes below approximately 2500 m.
