Glacier.
In the high alpine there is enough snow for avalanches to occur.
More details can be found on the Mountain Weather Forecast.
The snowpack in the alpine is starting to increase and some alpine areas have enough snow for avalanches to occur. Wind-loaded slopes and steep, narrow gullies are the highest concern.
On glaciers, expect crevasses to be hidden by thin bridges of wind-blown snow. Rope up, and use a probe to ensure that you are traveling on solid glacial ice.
Occasional reports of natural avalanches up to size 2 in steep alpine terrain have been observed during strong wind and storm events.
The rough ground covered is not yet buried. Going for a ride, even in a small avalanche, is likely to have serious consequences this time of year.
