Snowpack Summary

There is extensive wind effect in the alpine, with some surface faceting that may help break down crusts, creating softer skiing. In protected areas, at treeline and below, there is widespread surface hoar, which may be starting to be buried in some locations by light snow.

Deeper in the snowpack, there is a spotty Jan 3 layer of surface hoar down 50-70 cm, but no recent avalanches on this layer have been reported.

Sunday will bring mainly sunny skies with no snow, light to moderate West alpine winds, and treeline temperatures of -12C as the high.
