Regions

Glacier.

It's a mixed bag of riding out there, but with a discerning eye, one can find some soft turns.

Be prepared for some crunchy tree-bombs, tip-catching crust, or firm windslab as you search for the softness.

Weather Forecast

Cool/cloudy with minor flurries passing through the next few days

Tonight: cloudy with isolated flurries, 3-5cm, Alp low -10*C, light/gusting mod NW winds

Wed: Isolated flurries, Alp high -10*C, light W winds

Thurs: Flurries, 7cm, Alp high -6*C, gusty mod SW winds

Fri: Flurries, 6cm, Alp high -6*C, gusty mod SW winds

Snowpack Summary

A light dusting is covering up widespread Surface Hoar (8mm in valley bottom, 2-3mm near ridge crests). Hard windslabs are prevalent in the Alpine, especially on W-facing or exposed terrain. Sun and warm temps formed a crust on solar slopes in the Alpine, and on all aspects below 1650m. The Jan 29 SH layer, buried 50-80cm, seems to be rounding.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches were observed in the highway corridor today, nor in the Christiana Trees winter permit area.
