Pockets of soft slab up to two feet in depth formed by west winds exist in upper elevation starting zones. These slabs lie upon very slick crusts and were very sensitive to human triggers on steep wind loaded aspects yesterday. Skier triggered soft slabs occured on the east face of Mt. Hunt, in three steep north facing chutes in No Name Canyon and on an east facing cliff band above the skier traverse between No Name Peak runout and Jensen Peak. The potential for these slabs to be triggered or release naturally will increase today as temperatures warm. At the mid elevations isolated pockets of soft slab up to 10 inches in depth exist. These isolated pockets and loose snow sluffs could be human triggered in steep terrain especially later in the day as temperatures rise.
