You might be able to trigger a small avalanche on high-elevation, northerly-facing slopes. Areas close to ridgelines and in steep gullies that catch and hold early-season snowfall may harbor a hard-over-weak snow combination, and where you could get into trouble. Even small avalanches early season can take you for a nasty ride.
