Avalanche Summary

A foot of snow and strong westerly winds result in dangerous avalanche conditions. The snowpack in the Flat Tops is much weaker than normal, meaning avalanches can easily break at the ground. Don't treat the snowpack in this area as you normally would in mid-March. Avalanches that take the whole season's snowpack with it can be triggered remotely and from flat areas beneath steep slopes.
