Avalanche Summary

You can trigger large and dangerous avalanches on northerly and easterly slopes. You can trigger them from a distance and they may break wider than you anticipate. Wind-loaded slopes near ridgetop, especially near treeline, are where slabs and weak layers are more continuous and avalanches can be the widest and most dangerous. Avoid steep slopes with more than eight inches of recent snow and heed the warning signs of shooting cracks and sounds of the snowpack collapsing.
