Avalanche Summary

You can easily trigger an avalanche that breaks on the interface between the new and the old snow. Additional snowfall and settlement of the new snow will cause avalanches to grow in size throughout the day Sunday. Avoid traveling on slopes steeper than 30 degrees where you find more than a foot of new snow, especially at higher elevations near and above the treeline.

You may be able to trigger a large and destructive avalanche that breaks on deeply buried weak snow. By avoiding shallow areas such as a rock outcrop or an uneven, rocky slope, you can reduce your chances of triggering a large and dangerous avalanche.
