Avalanche Summary

You can trigger a slab avalanche that breaks two to three feet thick. The easiest place to trigger one is from a portion of a steep west, north, or east-facing slope where the snowpack is relatively shallower. These spots may be difficult to identify without probing the snowpack depth. You can find safer routes on southerly-facing terrain, on slopes less steep than 30 degrees, or travel in paths that already avalanched in the last few days.
