Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of the new snow the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses. Gradual increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of the new snow.

New snow above approximately 1300 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs will be deposited on the quite favourable surface of an old snowpack above approximately 1800 m. New snow and wind slabs can be released, even by small loads in isolated cases and reach medium size. At high altitude and in the regions exposed to precipitation the likelihood of avalanches is higher. Some mostly small natural avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

New snow above approximately 1300 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs will be deposited on the quite favourable surface of an old snowpack above approximately 1800 m.
