You may be able to trigger small avalanches in steep terrain where surface snow is poorly bonded to older layers or where the wind may have formed small drifts in the past couple of days. Check how the snow slides before committing to large, steep slopes. 

You may be able to trigger avalanches where you find 6-12 inches of recent snow in wind-drifts or where it slides easily in dry snow on sheltered slopes. On most slopes, soft snow will be resting on a firm crust and you may be able to trigger small loose dry avalanches are in very steep terrain (>40 degrees). While these avalanches will be small and easy to predict, they could run far and fast. Steer around likely trigger points like steep rollovers and convex terrain features. As you ascend, look for signs of wind-affected snow and steer around pillow-like features as you approach ridgelines. At lower elevation, snow may moisten as temperatures continue to moderate on Monday. If you find rollerball activity or moist, sticky snow, decrease your slope angle and adjust your aspect. Use caution near terrain traps where an avalanche could push you into rocks, trees, or gulleys. Even small avalanches could be dangerous in those areas.

Be prepared to make your own observations. Use caution on steep slopes if you find cohesive surface snow that slides easily.  If you're traveling near the western border of the zone, check out the neighboring West South forecast.

Conditions may be icy, and difficult to travel through with a breakable crust in some places. Expect shallow snow cover at low elevations and bare ground particularly on low south-facing slopes. Typical early season hazards can be expected with open creeks, stumps and rocks.
