Snowpack Structure

The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on steep grassy slopes below approximately 2000 m. As a consequence of mild temperatures and snowfall the snowpack can not consolidate.

Avalanche Activity

The snowpack will be gradually wet all the way through.

Outgoing longwave radiation during the night will be reduced. The surface of the snowpack is frozen, but not to a significant depth and will soften quickly. Individual, then as the precipitation becomes heavier more, and in some cases even medium-sized, gliding avalanches are possible.
