Avalanche Activity

The moist fresh snow of the last few days and the deep wind slabs can be released in isolated cases, but mostly only by large additional loads, in particular on steep shady slopes.

As a consequence of warming medium-sized and, in isolated cases, large wet avalanches are possible below approximately 2500 m.

Snowpack Structure

The high temperatures as the day progresses will give rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the old snowpack below approximately 2500 m. The fresh wind slabs are difficult even for the trained eye to recognise and to be assessed with care and prudence.
