Fresh snow and strong winds early Monday morning could form unstable wind slabs. Avoid steeper slopes with this avalanche problem. Most precipitation is expected on Senja. Areas without any new snow will have low avalanche danger. Keep in mind that the snow surface could be hard and icy.

Nysnø og vind kan danne ustabile fokksnøflak i fjellet tidlig på dagen. Unngå bratt terreng hvor snøoverflaten har dannet faste flak. Mest nedbør er ventet på Senja.

Områder uten nysnø vil ha lav skredfare. Vær oppmerksom på hard og glatt skare i noen områder.

Snowpack Structure

Det var mildvær forrige helg med plussgrader opp til ca. 1000 moh og litt regn. Snøoverflaten er nå stort sett skare. I lavlandet er det lite snø for årstiden og mange åpne bekker. På de høyeste toppene i indre deler av regionen er det mer vinterlige forhold med lagdeling i snødekket, men ingen kjente aktive svake lag.

Tendency

A skier can trigger avalanches in fresh wind-drifted snow. A shift in wind direction will lead to formation of wind slabs in several aspects. The risk of triggering avalanches is highest during the snow storm, and will decrease rapidly when the conditions calm down.
