Slab avalanches are possible in isolated cases.
Slab avalanches are possible in isolated cases.
The snowpack will be stable over a wide area. The more recent wind slabs are mostly easy to recognise. These have formed in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. Avalanches can in very isolated cases be released by small loads and reach medium size. In high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent and the danger is slightly greater.
The new snow and wind slabs of last week are lying on a crust in all aspects. Individual weak layers exist in the snowpack in particular on shady slopes. In all altitude zones only a small amount of snow is lying for the time of year.
