New snow
- Below treeline
New snow above approximately 1200 m. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs represent the main danger. New snow and wind slabs can to an increasing extent be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Some mostly small natural avalanches are possible.
In some places avalanches can be triggered in the weakly bonded old snow and reach medium size in isolated cases. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. As a consequence of new snow and a strong wind from northerly directions, sometimes avalanche prone wind slabs will form in the course of the day. They are to be avoided. Caution is to be exercised in particular on very steep shady slopes, and adjacent to ridgelines. Gliding avalanches are also to be expected.
