Snowpack Structure

Over a wide area 30 cm of snow, and up to 40 cm in some localities, fell in the last two days above approximately 1800 m. Over a wide area new snow is lying on a weakly bonded old snowpack. Distinct weak layers in the upper part of the snowpack are difficult to recognise. Towards its base, the snowpack is faceted and weak. Avalanches can be released in near-surface layers very easily.

Avalanche Activity

As a consequence of new snow and a moderate wind, wind slabs formed in the last two days in all aspects. The new snow can be released easily, even by a single winter sport participant in all aspects above the tree line. The off-piste conditions are dangerous.
