Snowpack
Some of the snow from the start of this week is resting on a faceted layer. In isolated cases, avalanches may still be released in these near-surface layers on very steep shaded slopes.
In the central part of the southern flank of the Alps and in southern Upper Engadine, the old snowpack structure has been partially transformed, especially in places with little snow. However, no avalanches originating in deeper weak layers have been reported. In the other regions, the bottom and middle sections of the snowpack are generally favourable, meaning that avalanches usually only involve the upper layers.
Some medium-sized and occasionally large gliding avalanches are still possible, especially at altitudes between 2000 and 2600 m.

On Monday, it will be quite sunny in the south and inneralpine regions, otherwise it will be mostly cloudy. It will get significantly colder. Some regions in the north may see some snowfall with strong westerly winds. The avalanche danger may increase slightly in some regions in the north, but there will be hardly any change in the south.
On Tuesday, it will be mostly sunny in the mountains. There will be hardly any change in the avalanche danger.
