Following the last 2 days of snowfall, storm slabs are widespread. These can lose strength rapidly (with added snow/rain or warming) or gain strength (over hours or days). If you see more than 6-8" of new snow, storm slabs are possible.
New Year's Eve and New Year's day produced many 6" storm slabs.

7500' N. Natural soft slab avalanche from 12/31 day or the night of NYE. Crown partially filled in, roughly 6" thick slab. 50' wide and ran 20' vertical.
