Highlights

Triggering wet snow avalanches will be possible on Saturday primarily on east through south, through west facing slopes at all elevations. Most avalanches will be small but they can run long distances on sustained steep slopes. Triggering an avalanchle that pushes you into terrain traps such as rocks, cliffs, and trees can lead to increased consequences. If you observe surface snow becoming wet or slushy down to 6" or more, consider moving to lower angle terrain or more shaded slopes.

    The daytime high temperature will be increasing into the mid 40's at near treeline elevations, but we will also have high clouds throughout the day that will block some of the sun's affect on the snow surface. Depending on the amount of cloud cover this problem may or may not come on and it could vary throughout the day. The best thing to do is keep monitoring the surface snow. If it starts to become wet, heavy, or slushy, then wet loose avalanches can happen. Watch for other signs that the snow surface is heating up such as roller balls coming down steep slopes or recent wet loose avalanches as indicators that you can trigger an avalanche.
