Gradual increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches as a consequence of warming during the day.
As a consequence of warming during the day and solar radiation moist and wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses. In particular on very steep sunny slopes moist avalanches can penetrate even deep layers and reach large size. Backcountry tours, off-piste skiing and ascents to alpine cabins should be started and concluded very early.
Since Friday the weather has been exceptionally warm. The surface of the snowpack will only just freeze and will already be soft in the early morning, especially at low and intermediate altitudes. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to rapid moistening of the snowpack below approximately 3000 m. Above approximately 2200 m there is still a very large amount of snow.
Gradual decrease in avalanche danger as the temperature drops.
