As a consequence of a strong wind, avalanche prone wind slabs will form in the course of the day in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. In particular on wind-loaded slopes the avalanche prone locations will become more prevalent as the day progresses. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are lying on the unfavourable surface of an old snowpack in all aspects. They can be released easily or naturally, in particular on extremely steep slopes. Mostly the avalanches are medium-sized and can be released by a single winter sport participant. Caution is to be exercised at transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack. In particular very steep slopes and base of rock walls: As a consequence of the new snow medium-sized loose snow avalanches are possible. In particular on shady slopes these can be released in the faceted old snow.
Over a wide area 25 cm of snow, and up to 50 cm in some localities, will fall until late in the night above approximately 2000 m. In all aspects snow depths vary greatly above approximately 2200 m, depending on the infuence of the wind. The rain gave rise on Thursday to moistening of the snowpack below approximately 1900 m. Below approximately 1800 m from a snow sport perspective, insufficient snow is lying. On steep sunny slopes below approximately 2500 m a little snow is lying. The snowpack is not distinctly layered. Shady slopes: The snowpack consists of faceted crystals.
