Finding a sheltered gully or somewhere protected from the gale winds will be a challenge today. If you find it you may be rewarded with some nice chalky powder.
Plenty of snow transport over several days. Wind-slab conditions appear to be around start zones. Winds have changed directions in the southern half. Yesterdays newly formed slab was unreactive to ski cutting. Be careful in and around complex terrain. Avalanches may be in the small range. However, an event could push over something large and rocky.
No new activity reported for a few days. Some great public observations have been published, keep up the good work team.
Our local snowpack has been blasted by extreme winds for several days. Little change in snowpack strength yesterday. Plenty of wind transport at ridge crest. Pockets of wind-slab have been investigated for strength. While most areas returned a stubborn result, if you're adventuring into complex terrain investigate obvious pillows around terrain features. Exposed areas have been scoured back to hard ice in places. Some areas are devoid of snow, now back to rocks. Remember....Low, does not mean NO avalanches. Be cautious, onya !
Gale strength S winds will take much of the day to ease. Plenty of sun today. The freezing level around 1400 m.
We have some concerns about a sliding danger. Areas of hard ice have been exposed by gale strength winds. Any snow that has been moist over the past 48 hrs has re-frozen. Adding ski/foot crampons and an ice axe would be a good idea at present.
