At higher altitudes new snow can trigger spontaneously.

Above 1600m avalanche danger is moderate; below it is low. Main problem: fresh snow. Spontaneously releasing medium-sized loose snow avalanches can be expected in steep rocky terrain. In addition, close to ridgelines medium-sized slab avalanches can in some places be released by low additional loading. Avalanche prone locations are found in steep terrain in all aspects; frequency and size increase with ascending altitude. In addition, isolated small to medium-sized glide snow avalanches can release on steep slopes with smooth ground.

30cm of new snow have fallen since Thursday. In shady lower altitude terrain the snow is deposited atop a favorable old snowpack surface. At higher altitudes sporadically a weak intermediate layer forms at transitions to the old snowpack which can trigger. Adjacent to ridgelines the snow is transported by moderate wind over a spatially limited area. At low and intermediate altitudes the new snow is deposited atop bare ground or atop a thoroughly moist old snowpack which is wet a ground level.

Precipitations are lessening and the avalanche danger will decrease by the beginning of the week.
