Avalanche prone locations are found in eastern and southern aspects. Older snowdrift accumulations and freshly generated drifted masses can be triggered even by minimum additional loading. Generally, Size-2 avalanches are anticipated.
There has been 20 cm of fresh snow deposited on top of surface hoar or atop a hardened old snowpack surface. At high altitudes in northern and eastern aspects, older snowdrift accumulations lie deposited on a softened layer. In the Hochschwab region there is significantly less snow, compared to Niedere Tauern.
In icy temperatures, light snowfall in the Northern Alps during the morning. Thereafter, cloud cover and fog will gradually disperse. On the southern flank of the Alps, sunny and dry weather will set in during the morning. The sharp, cold northwesterly wind will slacken off during the course of the day. At 2000 m: -9 degrees.
No significant change in avalanche danger levels is expected.
